Danielle de Picciotto & Alexander Hacke
The German-American artist couple Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke aka hackedepicciotto are internationally known for their unconventional and versatile work.
She, born in the Pacific Northwest of the USA and raised in New York City, settled in the still-divided city of Berlin in 1987, invented the Love Parade two years later with Dr. Motte and works as an interdisciplinary artist in the fields of music, painting and literature.
He, a rare fine example of the "West Berliner" species that is almost extinct here, joined the group Einstürzende Neubauten in 1980 at the tender age of 14 and has since written music history as a non-conformist extremist, with or without the band.
In 2000, the two gave up their house in Berlin Wedding and are now travelling the world as modern-day nomads with their joint audiovisual projects. Their current music albums and books deal with the spiritual implications of homeless life.
"My love sleeps next to me
His hand in mine
Our dual certainty makes our sun shine
Distance forms symmetry
Poetry is formed
Don’t need security
This world’s my home"
Danielle de Picciotto
